Self-care is important to maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself.  Guilt-free self-care also reminds both you and others that your needs are valid and a priority.

Click on the image below to check out easy self-care tips.

1. You need to know and embrace the fact that you DESERVE time for yourself.

You can’t save the world when you are running on fumes.  While you might think it’s selfish to take out time for yourself, this is essential for looking after your mental health and wellbeing. If you become burned out from burning the candle from both ends you won’t be any good to yourself or anyone else. Taking some ‘me time’ is like hitting a refresh button that will help you refocus your energy.

2. Be intentional and consistent with your self-care activities.

If you’re serious about making time for yourself, you need to plan it into your day. Planning will help to schedule your other tasks, preserve your precious “me”  time, and so prioritize yourself!

Daily, weekly and monthly there should be self-care activities that are on your calendar.

Daily…could be your morning routine or daily quiet time and sometimes an uninterrupted shower. (No kids or questions asked for 30-45 minutes while you are in the bathroom).

Weekly could be a bubble bath, mani-pedi, or dinner by yourself.

Monthly, that could look like a massage or time out with your girlfriends.

  • Cook or bake
  • Exercise
  • Get a massage
  • Go for a walk
  • Listen to music or a podcast
  • Make art
  • Meditation
  • Mindfulness exercises
  • Play a game
  • Practice deep breathing
  • Read
  • Take a bath
  • Take a (timed) nap
  • Watch TV or a movie
  • Yoga

3. Get everyone in your house on board with your self-care schedule.

Let them know what you will be doing and when you will be unavailable.

Commit to this. Remind your hubby that he will be in charge during this time and is responsible for any questions or needs of your children.
