Stay in your own lane!

Hey Beautiful!  I have a simple instruction for you.  Stay calm and stop comparing yourself to others that couldn’t walk a mile in your shoes.  We are all guilty of this.  For one reason or another, we find someone that looks as though they have perfected the one thing we are struggling with.  Whether we are trying to raise gifted children, restore our marriage,  build an empire or just staying focused on living for Jesus.  There is always someone else that “looks” like they have mastered it.  They do it gracefully and without any flaws.

The grass is never greener.  Stop looking at their social media following, what you assume their bank account looks like or their perfect children.  Everyone on this earth has a struggle.  It doesn’t matter how great their life may appear.  There is a burden every one is faced with.

I had a friend that looked like she had the perfect marriage.  He doted on her in public.  Their facebook pictures were immaculate.  Vacations and shopping sprees were a daily routine for them.  They spoke highly of each other and gave the impression that everything was smooth sailing.  Actively engaged in ministry and always gave the perfect remedy for any marriage crisis.  The perfect picture of the perfect Godly marriage.  Unfortunately, once the curtains were moved back, it was revealed that he was living a double life.  He had affairs during most of their marriage.  And, she knew all about them.

I’m not judging.  We all have our own cross to bare and struggles to release to God.  But, I am saying is we must be careful that we are not desiring something that is not for us and could possibly hurt us to our core.  If we are not careful, we will fall into temptations like envy and jealousy for something that isn’t even real.  This is why I encourage you to Stay In Your Lane!

What is your lane?  It is your life journey that God has predestined for you.  Opportunities that He has assigned to you.  Relationships that He has ordained you to experience.  Every follower of Christ has a purpose.   It is what God placed you on earth to accomplish.  We all must make sure we are focused on God’s will for our life so that we can walk in the fullness of what he has created us for.

How do I identify my lane?

My most basic answer for this is I view life like my GPS.  I plug in my destination and my GPS tells me exactly how to get where I am trying to go from my current location.  It even gives me an estimated time of arrival.  There are specific stops, turns, intersections and bridges along the way.  Each one is in at a specific location.  In order for me to get to my destination, I need to follow the instructions on my GPS.

What happens when I don’t follow the instructions and try to create my own detour?

  • My arrival can be delayed.  It makes the journey so much longer than it needed to be.
  • I might miss out on what I was supposed to experience while on the original path.
  • I could experience unnecessary frustration because things are not going as well as they should be.

What is our destination?

God’s will for our life and our purpose here on earth.  God is our GPS.  He is our navigator.  Why wouldn’t he be??  He created the path and journey that he would like us to be on.  Of course, he is the perfect guide and will get us where He predestined us to be.   Jeremiah 29:11 “‘I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”  Everyone has a path that God has prepared for them.   It is specifically for you.  No one else can do it and no one can duplicate it.  It is designed with your personality, journey, and testimony in mind.

Your shoes are designed just for you!

This is why I said, “they can’t walk a mile in your shoes”.   No one can do what you do, the way you do it.  You are anointed to be the mother of your children.  Anointed to be a helpmate to your husband.   You are gifted to work at your job.  No one can be you!  I don’t care how amazing she looks or how it seems like she is conquering the world.

I LOVE me some Oprah.  Yes, I do!  She has accomplished so much in her life.  Most of us strive to be like her.  But, could she walk in my shoes??  Could she raise my 4 daughters, be a helpmate to my husband, teach in the public schools and be active in ministry at my church?  Hmm, I wonder.  It isn’t that my role is any greater than her role.  The good Lord knows I could not walk in her shoes and do all that she does right now.  God has given me the grace and power for MY current season.  Not Oprah’s current season.  God has given Oprah the grace and power for HER current season.

There are people assigned to you.

Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”  While you are traveling on this path there are specific people that God has assigned to minister to you and people you are to minister to.    When you deviate from God’s plan, you risk missing out on the joy and blessings from engaging with your assigned connections.  These people will help you in your walk with Christ.  Every engagement is a tool that God is using to draw you closer to him and get you to a final destination.  There is always a lesson we are to learn.  Nothing is done by accident.  Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Gods plan for you in better than any plan you can create on your own.

Ephesians 3:20  “Now unto him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”.  You can’t begin to imagine what God fully has in store for you.  Your expectations will always be smaller than what he wants to really do with you.  That’s why we must constantly position ourselves where we are always relying on God to lead and guide us.  He knows the end result.

My Prayer for You!

Heavenly Father, I pray that my sister will walk in the fullness of who You created her to be.   Keep her desires aligned with Your will for her life.  Allow her to hear Your instructions clearly.  Strengthen her to obey You without hesitation.  Stir up every dormant gift you have placed in her.   Ignite a fire in her heart that can not be quenched.  May her life continually give you glory.   In Jesus’ mighty name.

Sincerely your daughter,
